For Family Councils to be really effective, you need to record decisions, assignments and reports of assignments/activities completed. Recommend this be done as minutes to the meeting. These minutes need not be formally typed or handwritten notes but do need to be available at the Family Council for future reference. Likewise, job assignments and family rules need to be documented for future use. Mission statement and goals maybe posted other places in the home but a copy should be retained for the record. We recommend these Family Council documents be kept in a Family Council workbook. We recommend a three-ring binder for the Family Council record book with several tabs. These tabs may include:
Mission Statement & Goals
Agenda
Minutes
FC Jobs and personal assigned
Family Rules
Notes or project reports
References - Job description as defined by the family and other basic references from this website and others documents used by the council
Historical notes - beginning Family Councils and FC Rules.
